‘Bappa’ or Lord Ganesh is the most important respected God among the people of the state of Maharashtra. So Ganesh Chaturthi, the 10 days festival of Lord Ganesha’s birthday is the most important festival of the Maharashtrians. The celebrations and preparations are now on full swing in the state as this year 5th September is the date for Ganesha worshippers to the bring lord home with cheers and enthusiasm.

Like every year, the state of Maharashtra is again seen busy and excited in the preparation of its most awaited and important festival that is Ganesha Chaturthi. The festival marks birthday of Lord Ganesha which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and happy hearts for 10 days. It is been believed by the people of Maharashtra that bringing home an idol of Lord Ganesha and worshipping the lord being on fast is the way of bringing prosperity, happiness and good wellbeing at home with Lord Ganesha.

Thus, it is likely to see the state of Maharashtra dipped completely into the vibrancy of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. In fact during Ganesha Chaturthi, the sight of the state of Maharashtra is a completely different from the entire year. Also the hues of excitement, sanctity and enthusiasm of Ganesh Chaurthi in Maharashtra are seen in other parts of country during Ganesha Chaturthi festival.

Today 10 day festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated in every state of the country not only by Maharashtrians but by Lord Ganesha devotees. Thus bringing home a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha, being on fast, preparing ‘Modak’ Prasad for lord Ganesha, wearing new clothes and organizing cultural programs is a part of everyone celebrating the festival.

In fact the 10th or the last day of the festival celebration is seen as the most cheerful and colorful day of the celebration when devotees of Lord Ganesha bids Good Bye to their Vigna Harta with cheers and happy heart. It is the day when the idol of Lord Ganeha is submerged in the holy water. However there are different set of days when people submerge lord Ganesh idol in holy water. It can be before the final 10 days of celebration.

So it’s the best time to notice the state of Maharashtra in completely different avatar as people all around the state are getting ready to welcome Lord Ganesha on 5th September this year with happy hearts and cheers of "Ganpati Bappa Morya..."
