Ganesh Chaturthi is one of India’s popular and significant Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with great passion and devotion. Extreme devotion of this auspicious festival can be seen in Maharashtra, where celebration goes till 10 days.
The day is celebrated as the birthday of Popular Hindu God Lord Ganesha, the god of prosperity, wisdom and Good luck, is the son of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
As per Hindu calendar, this auspicious festival is celebrated on Chaturthi (fourth day) of Bhadrapad (between August and September). People brings decorated idols of Lord Ganesha to their homes and do worship to him for 10 days. On the final day of the festival the idols of Lord Ganesha are taken out in a colorful and musical march and immersed customarily in water.
